Autodesk and Adobe created OpenPBR, a new shading model that will allow to move shaders between these two companies softwares seamlessly. This new shading language will be the successor of both Autodesk Standard Surface, and Adobe Standard Material.

Both companies will focus their efforts on this new standard from now on. OpenPBR is a subproject of Material X, building upon this one, providing a description of how an artist will interface with the physical properties of the surface they are creating..

Additional details around OpenPBR were shared during theĀ MaterialX Virtual Town Hall, the video will be published soon on the youtube channel.
