We have a new 3ds Max 2027, a new iteration of our beloved 3d app.
This time we get Smart Bevel, unlike chamfering, smart bevel culls the geometry, and recreates it creating a bevel. The benevit is that it can go past existing topology, great to be used after a boolean modifier.


We got a new noise modifier, Noise plus. that extends a lot all the options existing on the original Noise modifier, now with multiple types of noises with more fractal options, a tileable option, you can clamp or invert results, apply a different random phase over each element, and switch between world and object space.

We got new grid helpers, called “Fields” Those are sdf volumes that work great with volume select for faster selection based on volumes with complex geometry. They can output float values, vectors or maps, for more options. It supports primitives such as box, sphere, torus and cylinder, a linear type or you can convert any mesh in to a volume, all with a falloff to control the transitions.
New animation controllers have been added to 3ds Max that work with the Field Helper. These controllers allow the helper to influence animatable channels on objects, as well as on modifiers and materials applied to those objects. This enables powerful procedural workflows and unique methods for driving changes throughout your scene.

A lot of people forever asked a way to include the direction of “extrude” modifier, that was locked at z, now with a gizmo this is finally possible!

Splines now has a “Use fixed radius” under spline chamfer modifier, to be able to get consistent corner radius.
We also got a new “spline chamfer modifier” to weld splines procedurally as a modifier.

The viewport received a face lift, with a more modern look, new grid and grid color, that is fully customizable. colors, grids, subgrids, positive and negative control over color axis, etc… Also the menus for [+] [Perspective] etc, are now under a button.

Theres a new Autodesk AI assistant, is basically AI , specifically trained over 3dsmax for questions and scripting:

But theres quite a lot more, with faster boolean modifiers with cleaner results, now that theres an improved recursive welding.
Array modifier has a new surface distribution with z growth, wllowing objects to follow surface contours while growing in height, and better spacing control when distributing objects along paths.
Attribute transfer is now faster.
Shape map is now 50 times faster (yes not 50%, but 50 times faster).
